Brand Devices

Image Selection
- Images should be cinematic and eye-catching. While production stills are preferred, key art can be used when it is more effective.
- Whenever possible, talent should be forward-facing.
- For multi-titles, choose images with a similar tone and color palette for optimal blending.
Glass Text
- The 3D glass texture is created in Adobe Illustrator. The texture file is included in the download link.
- Color should match the HBO Max iridescent logo and should not be a solid or tinted color.
Glass Finessing
- Talent should weave through the openings of the Core Glass. Heads and faces should remain in the foreground.
- Avoid over-blurring the glass. Background details should remain visible instead of blending into one color.
- Avoid overly dark imagery, as this can cause the highlights ofthe glass to disappear.
- Glass edge highlights should pick up the color of the image behind them and be toned down when overlapping text or logos.
- Images should blend subtly together, with no harsh dividing lines between the titles.
- Title treatments should not be solid white; set them to approximately 80% opacity.
- The Core Glass can also be used on the radial gradient in special use cases.


Motion Core Glass
- Within the Motion Toolkit, the Core Glass device is used in glass intros, standard and custom outros, as well as text cards. When placing footage behind them, adjust the amount of blur and white/black levels of the inner, middle, and outer rings to match the examples provided.
Dark Radial Gradient
Use this background with the iridescent white or pure white HBO Max logos, and adhere to the provided ratios. If another size is required, contact: HBOMax_Brand_Team@wbd.com.




Light Radial Gradient
Use this background with the lens flare black or obsidian black HBO Max logos, and adhere to the provided ratios. If another size is required, contact: HBOMax_Brand_Team@wbd.com.




Considerations
- Include a mix of programming that leans into our content strategy (HBO/Max Originals, Pay-1 movies from WB and A24).
- Aim to keep new and high-performing titles near the center of the quilt or within the crop (depending on the version).
- When replacing key art, follow the size and format referenced in the template
- New versions must be approved by the Brand Marketing team and vetted through legal. Be mindful of parity when resizing, moving, or cropping key art.
